Power purchase agreements

Solar for your business. $0 upfront.

Under a solar PPA we fund, install, own and maintain a system on your premises. You buy the electricity it generates at an agreed price per kWh, set below what you pay the grid. No capital outlay, no maintenance, savings from the first day.

How a PPA works

You host the system. We own it. You pay only for the power.

We install it, at our cost

We design, fund and install a solar system (with optional battery) on your roof or land. Approvals and connection are on us.

Your site uses the solar first

Solar flows straight into your building. The grid tops up whatever the solar doesn't cover, just as it does today.

You pay per kWh, below grid

Each month you pay only for the solar energy metered, at the agreed PPA rate. Maintenance and monitoring are ours.

The benefits

Why businesses choose a PPA

  • No upfront capex: keep your capital and borrowing capacity for the business itself.
  • A lower rate than the grid: the PPA rate is set below your current daytime grid rate, so every solar kWh you use saves money.
  • Predictable pricing: the rate (and any annual escalation) is locked in for the term.
  • No maintenance hassle: we own the system, so servicing, monitoring, repairs and insurance of the system are covered as set out in your agreement.
  • Pay only for what's generated: if the system produces less, you pay less.
  • Sustainability credentials: cut Scope 2 emissions with renewable energy made on site.
Is it right for you?

A PPA is a strong fit if your business has…

Steady daytime usage

Manufacturing, cold storage, retail, offices, schools, aged care, clubs and agriculture all use most of their power in daylight.

Suitable roof or land

Structurally sound roof space or ground area with good sun exposure.

A long-term site

You own the premises or hold a long lease, or your landlord is on board. We can help with that conversation.

How PPA terms work

  • Term: tailored to your site, typically a long-term agreement
  • Rate: agreed cents per kWh, set out in your proposal
  • Escalation: any annual escalation is spelled out up front
  • End of term: options such as buying the system, extending, or removal
  • Suitability: we'll assess your site's size and usage for free

Final terms depend on your site, usage and contract.

FAQ

PPA questions

Want to talk it through? Call 0455 475 382.

Do I still need an electricity retailer?

Yes. The solar system supplies part of your energy, and you keep your existing retailer for the rest, including night-time and cloudy-day usage.

What happens if the system produces less than expected?

You only pay for the solar energy actually metered and used. Performance obligations and remedies are set out in the agreement.

What happens at the end of the term?

Your proposal sets out the end-of-term options, which may include buying the system, extending the agreement, or having it removed.

What if we move or sell the property?

Ask us about this when we prepare your proposal. How a sale or move is handled is set out clearly in the agreement before you sign.

Can a battery be included?

Often, yes. Battery storage can be added to a PPA where it improves the economics, for example to shift solar into peak periods.

Is a PPA off balance sheet?

Because we own the system, PPA payments are often treated as an operating expense, but accounting treatment depends on the contract and applicable standards. Please confirm with your accountant.
